The FAA recently granted Next Generation Aviation Services a Section 333 Exemption, allowing the company to fly UASs for a number of commercial applications in the metropolitan New York City area.
The firm McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP helped the company secure the exemption, according to a news release. The exemption is reported to be the first of its kind in the metropolitan New York City area.
“We are extremely pleased to have played a role in what we consider to be a historic step; not only for our client, but also for the growth and commercial application of UAVs in our region,” said Firm Partner Albert J. Pucciarelli, who heads MDM&C’s Aviation and UAV practice group, according to the release. “NGA’s rapid FAA approval was based, in large measure, on the application’s focus on safety, training and public awareness, which are critical to the adoption of UAVs in the national airspace system.”
