Small unmanned systems provider Aeryon Labs recently announced a partnership with Trellisware Technologies, a company that provides wireless communications solutions and signal processing.
Through the partnership, Aeryon will integrate TrellisWare TSM mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) radio technology into the SkyRanger sUAS, according to a news release.
Operators will be able to deploy SkyRanger carrying an integrated TrellisWare TW-600 Ocelot™ radio payload, as an airborne communications relay node extending the bubble of the TSM network beyond-line-of-sight, according to the release. This helps ensure communication is maintained between ground-based personnel.
It also makes it possible for the SkyRanger to distribute video in real time to the TSM network, according to the release, enabling remote personnel up to 26 miles (42 km) to benefit from the aerial situational awareness the aircraft obtains.
“Our partnership with TrellisWare exhibits the extensible and secure architecture of the Aeryon SkyRanger, making it ideal for military sUAS operators,” said Dave Kroetsch, President and CEO of Aeryon Labs Inc., according to the release “The integration of SkyRanger and the TrellisWare TSM solutions illustrates how sUAS provide a safe and reliable way for ground-based and remote personnel to make informed decisions in high-risk situations.”
