Trimble Targets Drone Delivery Integration with Smart Antenna Enclosure for PX-1 RTX

Trimble has released a smart antenna enclosure option for its PX-1 RTX positioning solution, packaging centimeter-level GNSS-inertial hardware with an integrated RF-hardened antenna element for commercial drone delivery integrators.

The enclosure pairs the PX-1 RTX — which uses Trimble’s CenterPoint RTX corrections and compact GNSS-inertial hardware to deliver real-time centimeter-level positioning and true heading — with a Calian AC4990ECF full-band Accutenna 4 antenna. Calian’s eXtended Filtering technology applies deep filtering around the GNSS bands (to -80 dB) to reject LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ligado interference, while the XF+ configuration isolates upper and lower gain paths to prevent jamming in one band from saturating the other.

The positioning redundancy provided by the combined system reduces reliance on magnetic sensors — a meaningful operational advantage in urban or constrained environments where interference sources are common and precise low-altitude maneuvering is critical.

“Removing board-level integration challenges like RF interference and mechanical noise, and incorporating a high-performance, state-of-the-art GNSS antenna element from Calian, this drop-in positioning solution enables our customers to integrate real-time centimeter positioning into their products in weeks instead of months,” said Joe Hutton, director of Applanix airborne products at Trimble.

The enclosure is expected to ship through Trimble Applanix sales channels in Q3 2026.
