Systron Donner Inertial Delivers 2,500th SDI500 MEMS IMU

Systron Donner Inertial has now delivered more than 2,500 SDI500 Tactical Grade IMU (inertial measurement units) since the product’s introduction in 2010.

The Concord, California provider of high performance MEMS inertial sensors and systems delivered the 2,500th SDI500 Tactical Grade IMU on January 25, 2018. The SDI500 has become a successful, widely used Tactical Grade IMU that is noted for its outstanding reliability and accuracy in challenging environments subject to high vibration, rapidly changing temperature extremes, and tough mission profiles, according to the company.

The SDI500 is distinguished as the only MEMS IMU capable of delivering 1.0°/hr gyro bias and 1 mg accel bias stability over full temp. -55°C to +85°C. The IMU also features <1.0°/hr gyro bias in-run stability, 0.02°/Öhr random walk noise, dynamic range of +/- 1,000 °/sec for the gyros and +/- 50g for the accelerometers and <1.0 sec valid data start-up. The high performance IMU is used in various tactical guidance, navigation, flight control and stabilized systems. The compact, low power SDI500 provides an excellent SWaPC advantage over legacy tactical grade FOG and RLG IMU’s.

“SDI reached the 1,000-unit milestone back in mid-2015. We have seen steady accelerated demand for the SDI500 to reach the 2,500-unit milestone in just over two-and-a-half years, signifying the product’s maturity and customer acceptance. SDI has delivered the tactical grade IMU to multiple customers worldwide for their mission critical applications.” said David Hoyh, director sales & marketing for SDI. “Systron Donner Inertial continues to invest in SDI500 performance capability enhancements and production capacity to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”
