Topcon Positioning Systems has expanded its product offerings through the Topcon Solutions Store (TSS) network in the United States by integrating its Layout Navigator (LN-150) with HP SitePrint. This integration aims to advance construction automation and efficiency for a wide range of professionals including general contractors and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) contractors.
The combination of Topcon’s LN-150, recognized for its straightforward, one-button setup, with HP SitePrint’s autonomous robotic unit that prints site layout plans directly on construction floors, marks a significant advancement in construction technology. This solution is designed to streamline the site layout process, offering time and cost savings by replacing manual layout methods with digital precision.
Ray Kerwin, Director of Global Product Planning at Topcon, highlighted the importance of transitioning from paper to digital layouts. The LN-150’s user-friendly design, coupled with SitePrint’s accuracy and compatibility with digital construction workflows such as Autodesk Revit and Civil3D, provides an innovative solution for the construction industry.
HP’s research indicates a pressing need for such technology in construction, with layout errors on projects leading to significant reworks and delays. Xavi Juarez, Director at HP Construction Services, pointed out that automation in layout tasks is highly sought after in the industry, with the goal of significantly boosting productivity and reducing the occurrence of costly errors.
The LN-150 supports Wi-Fi and long-range Bluetooth communication and is compatible with cloud-based workflows, offering precise 3D layout capabilities that are increasingly vital due to labor shortages. This technology is expected to enhance productivity, accuracy, and provide a substantial return on investment over traditional layout methods.
Mark Contino, Vice President of North American Retail Distribution at Topcon, expressed excitement about introducing this integrated solution to the U.S. market, emphasizing its potential to facilitate a seamless transition for contractors to a fully digital workflow.
The Topcon Solutions Store, serving the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry as Topcon Positioning Systems’ North American retail division, and an Autodesk Platinum Partner, now provides this innovative solution across its 20-state network. This initiative reflects Topcon’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art solutions to the construction industry, leveraging the latest technological advancements to meet the sector’s evolving needs.
