Connected public safety technologies company Axon is now offering Skydio drones to the public safety industry via Axon Air, the company’s unmanned aircraft program.
As a Skydio Elite partner, Axon has become the exclusive reseller and digital evidence management partner of Skydio’s products to law enforcement and emergency responders around the world, according to a news release. The companies are also working to develop a joint product roadmap that will lead to seamless integration between Skydio drones and Axon Air, Axon Evidence and Axon Respond.
This partnership will allow public agencies to leverage UAS for real-time situational awareness and evidence management. Agencies will be able to easily manage and share the imagery collected, which will live alongside corresponding body camera video in Axon’s digital evidence management platform, Axon Evidence. Through the integration with Axon’s real-time operations platform, Respond for Devices, command staff and 911 dispatchers will have access to live-streamed views from on-the-ground body cameras and drone footage, giving them a more comprehensive picture of an incident.
Skydio’s flight autonomy engine and 3D adaptive scanning software Skydio 3D Scan will automate scans of crime and accident scenes, creating accurate 3D reconstruction models and ultimately enhancing safety operations and efficiencies.
The Skydio 2 and Skydio X2 are available for sale by Axon through this partnership. The Axon Evidence and Respond for Devices integration is slated to launch later this year. Skydio will offer Axon Air, Axon Evidence and Axon Respond to its customers.
“This partnership underscores Axon’s commitment to ensuring that everyone gets home safe,” Axon Air General Manager Aydin Ghajar said, according to the release. “Skydio’s leading position in autonomous flight aligns with Axon’s vision of enhancing response times and offering first responders a turnkey drone program that provides a safer, more effective method of gaining situational awareness and gathering evidence.”
