Starship Technologies Now Delivering Packages in the UK via Ground Robots

Hundreds of ground robots from Starship Technologies are now delivering packages to customers in the U.K., with residents in the Bay Area, California, expected to have access to the same service by the end of the year.

The service is available through Starship’s app, according to a news release. Once signed up on the app, customers will receive what’s known as a personal address in place of their home address. This address is the location of a Starship managed local facility, where they can have packages delivered. The app will notify customers when the package arrives at the facility. After they choose a time, one of the Starship robots will deliver the package to their home, office or another location. Customers can track the package via the app.

“We’re excited that thanks to our technology, local communities across the globe will never miss a home delivery again,” Starship’s Chief Executive Officer Lex Bayer said, according to the release. “Today, more than ever, people lead busy and diverse lives. The hassle of needing to re-arrange your life for a delivery will become a thing of the past. No more having to switch your working from home day, reschedule meetings, visit a locker, drive to a post office or contact a courier all because of a missed delivery. Starship gets packages to consumers when and where they want them. This is the only service of its kind available in the world today, and it works around your lifestyle.”
