RE2 Robotics recently received a $910,000 order from iRobot for its Small Lightweight Manipulator, or SLM, arms.

iRobot plans to integrate the SLM arms into the 110 FirstLook® robots for the U.S. Navy as part of an order announced on August 19, according to a news release. This mission-enhancing and modular payload will make it possible for FirstLook operators to easily manipulate and interact with the environment.

The SLM arms feature a mast camera, giving operators a better vantage point for manipulating, navigation and inspecting, according to the release.

“RE2 is proud to provide iRobot and the U.S. Navy with the manipulator arm payload for their FirstLook robots,” said Jorgen Pedersen, president and CEO of RE2, according to the release. “Our SLM arms are strong, yet lightweight, and are capable of performing manipulation and inspection tasks for a variety of missions.”
