The Dayton, Ohio based Sinclair Community College is planning a significant upgrade to its UAS programs. The Ohio Controlling Board recently approved $4 million toward the proposed project that will convert one of the school’s buildings into a training and testing facility for UASs, according to an article from the Dayton Business Journal.

The $5 million project—the college is putting up $1 million of its own money for the conversion—will create a space for businesses and people who want to learn how to use drones commercially, according to the article. Known as the National Unmanned Aerial Systems Training and Certification Center, the 28,000 square foot facility will be housed on the first floor of the building, and will share space with the school’s aviation program.

The training center will include a 3,200 square foot flying pavilion with 40 foot high ceilings, according to the article. It will also feature an indoor flying tunnel to enable students to test drones.

The facility is expected to be completed in December, according to the article.
