Amimon Launches CONNEX Mini

In 2015, Amimon released CONNEX, a transmission solution designed for use on unmanned aerial systems. They recently expanded that product line with the introduction of CONNEX mini.

Like CONNEX, CONNEX mini is a zero-latency wireless compact HD video transmission solution. The difference? The mini is designed for smaller UAS. It delivers encrypted transmission for live and sensitive shots and can multicast at distances up to 1,600 feet rather than the 3,300 feet the CONNEX can achieve.

Amimon developed the CONNEX mini in response to growing demand for zero latency high definition transmission on smaller UAS platforms, Amimon CEO Ram Ofir said during a press conference.

“Our new CONNEX mini delivers all of the same great performance attributes as CONNEX in a smaller form factor for lightweight aerial drones that do not require long distance transmission capabilities and have limited payload capacities,” Ofir said. “CONNEX mini opens up a whole new horizon for aerial video production applications such as local news gathering, inspection and security, as well as for wedding videos and real-estate property documentation. The potential for new and exciting applications is limited only by one’s imagination.”

The mini’s transmitter unit mounts on the UAS, weighs 40 grams and measures 65 x 45 x 15 mm. The receiver unit, which can be mounted on the drone remote control, measures 100 x 71 x 18 mm and weighs 140 grams.

CONNEX mini features full 1080p HD video at 60 frames per second, zero latency, AES 128 encryption for secure transmission and multicast reception for up to four receivers. It provides telemetry and control solutions for S-bus, CANBUS and PPM drone controllers, and comes with an HDMI video interface on the receiver.

This video transmission solution is compatible with Amimon’s App, which is available for Android and Apple laptops. The App makes CONNEX mini even easier to set-up and manage in the field, allowing users to start shooting faster with professional results.

“Never miss a shot and achieve precise framing for increased video production efficiency,” Ofir said. “This empowers greater creativity and also saves time and money. These are tremendous benefits whether you’re shooting movies, covering a breaking news event, videotaping a wedding or inspecting a construction site. CONNEX continues to be a game changer for the drone industry.”
