Elbit Systems recently released the Skylark I-LEX, a man-portable electric propelled UAS.
As the new generation of the Skylark I-LE mini-UAS, The Skylark I-LEX is well suited for organic “beyond the next hill” reconnaissance, counter insurgency and force protection missions, according to a news release. It also can be used in civil applications, including perimeter security, border and coastal surveillance and a variety of law enforcement missions.
Improvements include better air vehicle performance, an encrypted communication system, an advanced ground control station, GEO registration and enhanced safety features.
The Skylark is equipped with algorithms derived from Elbit Systems’ Hermes family of larger UAS, according to the release. It can be controlled by the fly-by camera mode and other autonomous modes. This allows for the automatic tracking of fixed and moving targets.
