Times Microwave Systems Targets UAV Weight and RF Loss with Levitate Cable Assemblies

Times Microwave Systems has introduced Levitate, a new family of ultra-lightweight RF cable assemblies aimed at next-generation UAV and avionics platforms from Group 1 small UAS through Group 5 high-altitude systems. The line is designed to cut airframe weight while maintaining low signal loss for flight control, communications and surveillance payloads.

The company, which has more than 70 years’ experience in RF and microwave interconnects, is pitching Levitate as “the lightest weight per unit of loss” currently available, giving airframe and avionics engineers another lever to reduce overall system mass without trading away RF performance. The assemblies are positioned for both military and commercial use and are being sold through authorized distributors as a budget-conscious, off-the-shelf option.

“Levitate fills a real gap in the airframe and avionics community, specifically in the UAV market,” said Matthew Radicchi, Director of Market Intelligence for Times Microwave Systems. He described the line as a balance of cost, performance and availability for customers with increasingly aggressive size, weight and power (SWaP) constraints.

The product family spans multiple sizes, including LVT047, LVT086, LVT141, LVT157 and LVT196. The smaller, highly flexible LVT047, LVT086 and LVT141 variants are aimed at in-the-box applications such as internal RF runs within LRUs, while the ultra-lightweight LVT157 and LVT196 versions are intended for longer, critical RF paths connecting antennas to line-replaceable units on the airframe.

All Levitate assemblies are described as dual-use, engineered to meet requirements for both defense and commercial RF systems and to operate reliably in demanding airborne environments.

Times Microwave plans to showcase the Levitate line at industry trade shows throughout 2026, giving UAV and avionics engineers an opportunity to see the assemblies firsthand and discuss specific integration needs with company specialists.
